Dr. Brian Merritt serves as Medical Director of Emerging Business at Baylor Genetics. Since joining BG in 2015, Dr. Merritt has worked in various roles in the laboratory and business departments. In addition to his role at BG, Dr. Merritt is an Assistant Professor for the Pathology & Immunology and Molecular & Human Genetics departments at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). 

Dr. Merritt graduated magna cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in biology from Baylor University in Waco, TX. Afterwards, he attended medical school at BCM in Houston, TX, where he also completed his residency and fellowship training in pathology. He obtained his certifications from the American Board of Pathology for Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Hematology, and Molecular Genetic Pathology. 

Dr. Merritt is the Deputy Chief of Clinical Pathology and the Medical Director of the Hematology, Flow Cytometry, Specimen Triage, and Reference Lab Sections at Ben Taub Hospital. He is also the Medical Director of the Gulfgate Health Center, Northwest Health Center, and Strawberry Health Center Laboratories in the Harris Health System.
